Online Services

Patient Access

Online Patient Access

Many of the Bell Surgery’s patient services are now available for you to access safely and securely online via our website, making them available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week even when the practice is closed.

These include being able to order repeat prescriptions, book appointments and view your medical records.

Being able to see your medical record online might help you to manage your medical conditions. You will have access to summary information regarding your medication, immunisations and allergies.

There are some benefits of having access to your medical records online, but also some risks for you to consider.  Before we can grant you access to this service, we ask you to download and read the Patient Online Records Access Information Leaflet.

Please note that if you are applying for access to your medical records a GP will need to review your application before granting access and this can take up to 10 working days.

Applying for Online Access

Patients 16 and over

To book appointments online, order repeat medications, change your contact information and to view your medical records you will need to complete the Patient Online Registration Form.

If you have already registered for online access for Booking Appointments and Ordering Repeat Prescriptions and you would like to view you medical records online too then you need need to complete the additional access request on the form.

Click here to download the Patient Online Registration Form

You need to bring the form to the surgery with 2 forms of ID: one with a photo and one with your address (usually a utility bill, bank statement within the last 3 months). We require ID because you are able to view confidential information and this is to ensure you are the patient requesting access.

You will be given a sheet by Reception with some easy to follow instructions to take home and Register for online access. Once you have registered online, a password will be emailed to you within minutes to enable you to login and start using the service immediately to book appointments and order repeat prescriptions.

Access to your Medical Records if requested will be reviewed by a GP and could take up to 10 working days to be made available.

Online Access to Medical Records

If you have requested online access that allows you all the above features, but also allows you to have online access to your medical record. We currently offer the ability to view:

• previous medical history and other coded information
• medications
• immunisations
• allergies
• results

Online Access for Children

Parents may find it helpful to have an online account for their children to arrange appointments and order prescriptions. An adult with parental responsibilty can apply for an account on their child’s behalf until the age of 12.

At 12, online access to medical records will be automatically turned off.  This is to avoid compromising a young person’s right to confidentiality surrounding their health care as they reach an age when they may wish to see a doctor without a parent present.  Access to book appointments and request repeat prescriptions will remain available until the child reaches the age of 16.

A child over the age 12 may wish to apply for their own account and should discuss this with their GP.  Access to the medical records will not be granted for any patient under 16.

COVID Testing

Note that we do not have access to Coronavirus tests here at the Surgery

Contact NHS 119 online or ring NHS 119

We have received many enquiries relating to the availability of COVID-19 testing so we are posting this for clarification on testing.

There is a national issue with testing capacity due to rising demand, and it is affecting all parts of the country. Oxfordshire’s Public health director and team and the CCG are continuing to escalate this problem to central Government, and we are hoping that action will be taken to resolve current issues as soon as possible. Testing is a crucial part of limiting the spread of the virus. It protects communities and provides the opportunity to create a full picture of how the virus is spreading within communities.

Local Testing Sites are walk-through sites which people can access on foot or by bike– people showing coronavirus symptoms should call 119 to book a test or register online at . The Oxford site is in addition to existing regional and mobile testing units, and is designed to improve local access to testing. Booking slots are made available the evening before for morning appointments, and on the morning for afternoon appointments. There are times during the day where booking slots may not be available. However, slots are released continuously and so anyone who has not been able to make a booking should call back or visit the website later.

We know there is an issue with rising demand and so Public Health are actively urging people not to order or book tests if they are not symptomatic.

If you cannot get a test please self-isolate.

eConsultPatient Access

We are continuing to provide a variety of appointments with our GPs and Practice Nurses. Many of these appointments will initially be via telephone or video conference.

If you have a health concern please contact us on 01491 843250 or online via our website using eConsult. The GP or Nurse will do everything they can to help you over the phone. If they feel that you need to come into the surgery for a face to face appointment this will be arranged. You will then be given further instructions (as shown below) by our Reception team before coming to the Surgery.
  • Please phone us on your arrival in the car park to check in with reception and stay in your car (where possible) until we invite you into the surgery at the time of your appointment.
  • Please wear a face covering. This can be a scarf, mask or any other suitable garment.
  • We suggest you use your own loo at home so that you do not need to use the surgery toilets.
  • Wash your hands when you return home.

All our Clinicians will be wearing full PPE with surgical masks to protect you and themselves.

We can no longer accept paper prescription requests. Please request prescriptions via Patient Access or eConsult from our website. If you do not have a Patient Access account you can sign up online at

Repeat Prescriptions

Safety restrictions due to COVID-19 have been lifted and we can now issue prescriptions with 56 days supply again (excluding controlled drugs). You still need to request your next prescription through Patient Access 7-10 days before you run out of your supply. Your prescription should then be available to collect from the Pharmacy within 3 working days.
