Online Services

Patient Access

Online Patient Access

Many of the Bell Surgery’s patient services are now available for you to access safely and securely online via our website, making them available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week even when the practice is closed.

These include being able to order repeat prescriptions, book appointments and view your medical records.

Being able to see your medical record online might help you to manage your medical conditions. You will have access to summary information regarding your medication, immunisations and allergies.

There are some benefits of having access to your medical records online, but also some risks for you to consider.  Before we can grant you access to this service, we ask you to download and read the Patient Online Records Access Information Leaflet.

Please note that if you are applying for access to your medical records a GP will need to review your application before granting access and this can take up to 10 working days.

Applying for Online Access

Patients 16 and over

To book appointments online, order repeat medications, change your contact information and to view your medical records you will need to complete the Patient Online Registration Form.

If you have already registered for online access for Booking Appointments and Ordering Repeat Prescriptions and you would like to view you medical records online too then you need need to complete the additional access request on the form.

Click here to download the Patient Online Registration Form

You need to bring the form to the surgery with 2 forms of ID: one with a photo and one with your address (usually a utility bill, bank statement within the last 3 months). We require ID because you are able to view confidential information and this is to ensure you are the patient requesting access.

You will be given a sheet by Reception with some easy to follow instructions to take home and Register for online access. Once you have registered online, a password will be emailed to you within minutes to enable you to login and start using the service immediately to book appointments and order repeat prescriptions.

Access to your Medical Records if requested will be reviewed by a GP and could take up to 10 working days to be made available.

Online Access to Medical Records

If you have requested online access that allows you all the above features, but also allows you to have online access to your medical record. We currently offer the ability to view:

• previous medical history and other coded information
• medications
• immunisations
• allergies
• results

Online Access for Children

Parents may find it helpful to have an online account for their children to arrange appointments and order prescriptions. An adult with parental responsibilty can apply for an account on their child’s behalf until the age of 12.

At 12, online access to medical records will be automatically turned off.  This is to avoid compromising a young person’s right to confidentiality surrounding their health care as they reach an age when they may wish to see a doctor without a parent present.  Access to book appointments and request repeat prescriptions will remain available until the child reaches the age of 16.

A child over the age 12 may wish to apply for their own account and should discuss this with their GP.  Access to the medical records will not be granted for any patient under 16.

Summary Care Records update to support your Health Care during the COVID 19 outbreak 25/03/2020

When you are registered with a GP Practice a national electronic record called a Summary Care Record (SCR) is created which includes important information about your health i.e. medicines you are taking, allergies you suffer from etc. It provides authorised healthcare staff with faster, secure access to essential information about you.

As a result of COVID19 additional information will automatically be added to all of our patients' Summary Card Records.

This additional information includes; details of your long term conditions, your relevant medical history and any personal or healthcare preferences.

Providing this additional information on your Summary Care Record will help healthcare staff outside of the surgery provide the best possible care to you, should it be needed, during this critical time.

This update to your record will be reviewed once the COVID19 outbreak is under control.

More details and information about patient Summary Care Records can be found here:  Summary Care Record Information

Covid-19 - appointments update 24/03/2020

Due to the escalation of Coronavirus, The Bell Surgery is temporarily only dealing with urgent medical problems until further notice, in line with NHS advice.  We remain open and for any urgent medical problems appointments please ring on the day when you will be triaged by a GP. Essential nursing services will continue as usual for the current time.

Prescriptions Update - 20/03/2020

As per NHS guidelines we can now only issue 28 days of medication at any one time. This is to ensure continued supplies so that all patients will continue to receive their medication.

Please allow up to 5 working days for prescriptions to be processed from request to dispensing at the pharmacy. Our local pharmacies are working extremely hard to keep up with demand and to process prescription requests as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding at this challenging time. We will keep you informed of any further changes.

How long to stay at home:

If you have symptoms, stay at home for 7 days.

If you live with other people, they should stay at home for the 14 days from the day the first person got symptoms.

If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has long term condition, is pregnant or has weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.

Stockpiling Medicines:Patient Access

We all face very significant challenges in the coming weeks. We fully understand concerns about being able to access medicines. However as a practice we need to be mindful of all of our 9000 + patients and being able to deliver supplies to all of you. Stockpiling will lead to supply issues for everyone and in these challenging times we need to come together as a community.  We will be rejecting scripts where this is becoming apparent. Please can we ask you to  respect the advice we are giving you. We will naturally update this information if there are any changes.

Prescription Updates:

We can no longer accept paper prescription requests. Please request via Patient Access or eConsult from our website. If you do not have a Patient Access account you can sign up online:
